Tahoe Rim Trail
Johnathan and I completed the Tahoe Rim Trail, a 170-mile loop that runs loosely around the lake, on Sunday. We chose the trail because we knew that it would be beautiful. We also knew that we would be able to be self-reliant while out there. We would be able to get to Tahoe within a few hours from Berkeley. The trail is well mapped and signed. We could complete the trail without a resupply into town requiring a hitch or bus ride. Tahoe was the picture of suburban summer when we first started on July 3rd in Tahoe City close to the Truckee River / Tahoe lake outlet. There were so many people that it was hard to find parking. The river area was jammed up with giant rafts and cyclists and pretty much no one was wearing a mask. The forest was lush and beautiful but it was also crossed with logging roads and there were many, many mountain bikers.
